Investigation of child abuse
04.23.08 A quorum was called in the House Judiciary committee before members could discuss the bill. 04.10.08 The House Judiciary Criminal Laws subcommittee adjourned debate on this bill. 04.09.08 The House Judiciary Criminal Laws subcommittee did not meet today. 04.02.08 The House Judiciary Criminal Laws subcommittee adjourned debate on this bill. 03.04.08 The House Judiciary committee recommitted this bill to the Criminal Laws subcommittee. 02.28.08 The House Judiciary General Laws subcommittee gave this bill a favorable report with amendments. The amendments remove requirement that every reported case has to be investigated by local law enforcement. Summary: Provides that information concerning reports of child abuse and neglect classified as unfounded must be forwarded to the State Law Enforcement Division for safekeeping. This bill also requires SLED and the appropriate law enforcement agency conduct investigations and share information collected when child abuse or neglect is indicated.
